"Our story is one of faith over fear and hope over despair"
- Jonathan & Immaculate Kamyuka, Founders
When the world went into lockdown in 2020, Uganda's young people found themselves without a place to go for education, growth or mentorship. Jonathan and Immaculate Kamyuka began to see the vulnerable young people in their communities fall prey to poor choices and asked themselves, "How can we help?"
With their background in social work, the pair decided on a socio-economic approach. There was no guarantee that the Ugandan education system would recover from total shutdown, and so the Kamyukas wanted to provide the next best thing: a vocational school where students would learn a trade or skill that would empower them as they moved forward, so that they would do more than just live, but have life in abundance.
And so Life House Uganda was born. With the efforts of Jonathan and Immaculate, Life House has grown to nearly 50 Ugandan employees in 2025, employing a blend of social workers, educational staff, and program support in order to provide a strong foundation for their students' education.
Life House wouldn't be able to operate without their team of educators, social workers, and support staff. Life House now operates in both Kibuli and Wakiso, allowing them to offer even more educational resources to young people in Uganda. Meet the incredible team that allows Life House to continue building a better future for Ugandan youth.
